Weight Loss For Idiots - Why You Should Avoid "Fad" Diets

If you've watched any TV or done any web surfing lately, you've no doubt ran into countless ads for a new fad diet claiming it is the new magical cure to help you lose weight. Sure, you doubt their legitimacy, but you've tried everything else so you go for it, only to be let down once again. Here are some reasons to ditch these unreliable diets and stick with more tried and true methods.

It's easy to spot fad diets as they usually promise easy, immediate results. These diets usually sound too good to be true. They stress the importance of certain 'good foods' while eliminating certain 'bad foods' sometimes even an entire food group. Perhaps the easiest way to spot a fad diet is by the fact that they always seem to be trying to sell you something.

These fad diets also fail by not encouraging exercise. They promise quick results, with little contribution on your part besides sticking to the diet. Not only does this deter true weight loss, but in the long run it can be very unhealthy as lack of exercise leads to heart problems.

Often a fad diet relies on testimonials rather than scientific evidence. Some of the newer fad diets often base themselves on celebrity endorsement such as Oprah Winfrey and Anna Nicole Smith. Other times they will have numerous testimonials of people who have supposedly lost weight using the diet accompanied by dramatic before and after photos. Another gimmick is to include phrases such as "lose 10 pounds in 10 days."

These fad diets also will often show some form of scientific study and an oversimplified explanation. These studies ignore the differences in metabolisms and bio-chemistry. Often the studies were not conducted using the scientific method and contain no legitimate claims. Fad diets usually ignore or refute any true scientific evidence that disagrees with the program.

Then why is it that these diets seem to work? It depends on which one you are currently trying but this can often be linked to things such as water loss. Even when these diets do show quick results, the important thing to keep in mind is that these results are not permanent as it is not healthy to stay on them too long, nor would you want to given their blandness and strict rules, not to mention that the weight is usually gained back.

The AHA, American Heart Association, urges dieters not to go on fad diets for many reasons. One of which is that these fad diets usually force you to eat a single type of food, which keeps you from having a balanced diet. When a person eats only one thing, they can't get the vitamins and nutrients that the food doesn't contain. These foods are also so bland that people just can't stick with them. A good diet is something you can eat and enjoy now and for the rest of your life.

To get rid of belly fat and get 6 pack abs, you must exercise. There's no secrets. However, there is something that most people don't get when it comes to getting in shape and most importantly get a superb flat stomach.

Exercises are not the only factor to get abdominals. In fact, everybody has abdominal muscles. The only thing is that most of people can't see them.

How to see your 6 pack abs like famous cinema celebrities or other bodybuilders professional?

1. Understanding Calories

There's nothing complicated about calories. All you need to do is to burn more calories than the amount you consume.

2. Drinking a lot of water

You need to build at least one liter of water every single day. I will enter in the details of this later, but for now, make an habit to drink even when you are not thirsty.

In fact, your body needs a lot of water, and you don't have to wait for it to send you a signal. When you are thirsty, that means that you are not supplying your body with enough water.

3. Dieting

You need to be aware that most diets don't work on the long term. Sometimes it's the diet itself, but most of the time, the problem comes from the individual who don't follow through.

4. Build muscle

You are not only going to work on your abs, but every single muscle of your body. This will help you to burn belly fat as well.

As you can see, having a powerful six pack abs is not only about spending hours doing crunches and sit ups. There's a whole science behind this.

Your body requires an estimate of around 1700 calories a day to function normally. If it doesn't get there, its not normal. How does this happen? your body is like a living machine. When it realises that the calories intake isn't up to its expected level, it will slow down to cope with the rest of the systems. This essentially means that the digestion rate etc, will slow down accordingly. This includes brain and central nervous system functions.

Why do dieters always moan and groan about the lack of energy, lethargic feeling, easily exhausted and such is mainly because of not getting enough food to fuel their daily life. Their functions cannot run properly. This is a crucial mistake on most dieters part.

In addition to that, the bigger you are the more calories you'll need. Yes it is a logical equation, you add a value on the right hand side, you got to increase the same value on the left hand side. Men generally need more calories than a woman. You do the math.

Simply enough, you cannot let your body go into "Starvation mode". Don't do this, it will lead to a loss of muscles and therefore will lower your metabolism rate. This will have and overall chain effect on your body. Avoid it at all cost. Find an alternative.

The best option: Like everyone say, Be active, exercise and eat healthy. Instead of lowering calories, start burning them. It will be more effective than compared to other methods. Do not plan for an overnight weight loss plan. Slow and steady will win the race.

A Guide To Turbulence Training

Turbulence training, have you ever heard of it? It's incredible that a lot of the time we know what we should do and yet we still don't do it. This is especially true when we neglect our bodies despite our busy schedules. And even in the case of those who make it to the gym is there a better, faster way to get results? This is a quick tutorial on the benefits of turbulence training.

Turbulence Training Defined

Turbulent or turbulencetraining is defined as a complete body training regimen. It has the benefits of combining a muscle growing and fat burning process into one manageable one. Of course that means the user of the program will benefit from both technologies versus just one. It also provides a number of follow along examples for both woman and men alike. This allows trainers to have a model to follow if there clients so request.

There are a number of valuable benefits provided for education of users of the turbulence training website. The site has information to benefit beginners as well as those who consider themselves advanced. One of the main points covered by the website is the idea of having proper nutrition as a part of a total body regimen. Finally, the site discusses the all important relationship between muscle growing, fat burning results and exercise.

In Closing

There you have it. A somewhat complete synopsis of the turbulence training fitness system. The main benefit of the fitness regimen is decreasing the time you have to spend in the gym. This is especially true when you take the other processes into account. These include but are not limited to: strength and resistance training along with conditioning and nutrition guidelines. Both men and women will find value from this complete training regimen.

Recently you might have noticed that there is a seemingly endless amount of products announced on TV and magazines that claim to be the best method when aiming to lose a few pounds. There are advertisements regarding diets, creams, exercising machines, even hypnosis and suggestion; however there is one method to do this that has not been advertised that much, and that many people claim to be the most outstanding and effective weight loss procedure, acupuncture. But, how much is true about whats being said about this method? Is it true that weight loss through acupuncture is really the best method available today?

Acupuncture is by no means a recent discovery; it is actually a technique that has been around for centuries. In the past, acupuncture was used in several different healing procedures, and it is one of the only methods that has endured the passage of time, and one that continues to prove its efficiency throughout the world. The acupuncture method consist in placing needles strategically in different parts of the human body in order to stimulate certain nerves that will balance the body energy, and therefore alleviate different illnesses, both physical and mental. When talking about weight loss, acupuncture helps the patient by allowing him or her to burn calories faster; weight loss through acupuncture is great, because it provides the necessary energy to perform different exercise routines and it also accelerates the metabolism of the patient, which allows him or her to dispose the excessive amount of body fat in a very short period of time.

One of the most attractive issues regarding weight loss through acupuncture is that this method works even if you are not really exercising your body. Given the fact that acupuncture accelerates your blood circulation, you will be burning fat even by sitting idly on your couch just watching your favorite TV show. However, weight loss through acupuncture requires discipline as well as any other method, you will have to endure the placing of needles throughout your body for at least 2 times a week.

If you combine your weight loss through acupuncture process with a healthy diet and frequent exercise routines, it may take no longer than 6 months to reach your desired weight goal, which is, by far, one of the lowest amount of times available today. If you are planning to turn to acupuncture alone when trying to lose some weight, then you will have to be very patient, because weight loss through acupuncture alone may not be as fast as you wish.

Which Diet Will Work For You?

How many more diets will you have to go on to lose weight? How much more money will you spend on weight-loss solutions and how much more willpower will you be able to muster up to lose those extra kilos?

Most diets suggest that excess weight is a problem that can be solved through dieting. Through my experience, however, this could not be further from the truth. Is it possible that it is not about willpower at all? How would you feel if I suggested that weight is not the problem, but rather it is your thinking, your self-image and your self-esteem that have caused your distorted thinking about food, your body or your life?

I know that inside of you is a naturally slim person that existed before your thinking became distorted by the media, social pressures, family problems, neuroses, unforeseen disasters and the natural ups and downs of life.

So what is the solution?

Reach the thin mind inside of you despite what the outward appearances suggests and start from there.

Start living from inside of yourself.

In summary - get to what the REAL issue is and be willing to address your issues and be willing enough to want to change.

This perspective is different from the dieting concept mainly in that it treats the causes of overeating. By understanding the reasons for your overeating or under-eating, you can begin to address what it is that is really disempowering you.

This will require:
A Decision
Honesty
Courage
Willingness
Effort
Discipline

Some feel it may be too much to handle, so they continue along the dieter's path. This is a form of procrastination used to avoid the truth. It may not be the right time in your life right now to face your weight and your life, but I ask you:

When is the right time?
How far along the dieter's do you have to go, to reach rock bottom?
When is enough more than enough for you?
How much longer can you stand yourself as you are now?
How many more weeks, months and years do you have to go on pretending to yourself, family and friends that you are okay?

Permanent weight loss can be yours if you are willing to at least entertain some simple yet very effective tools, strategies and perspectives. These are all available at your fingertips if you want it. Are you willing to give your permanent weight loss attempts at least one more try?

As if you needed another reason to hit the snooze button, recent study concluded that your odds of being overweight are 24% lower for each additional hour you sleep. That's great and all, but what are those of us who work 50 hours a week on top of training and watching reruns on TV supposed to do with such findings?

Now there are different ways you can lose weight while you sleep. Some of us are spending the big bucks and taking products like 5-hydroxytryptophan, Conjugated Linoleic Acid, Gymnema Sylvestre, Glucomannan, Guggulsterone, fish oil and Gamma-Aminobutryic.

Guggu what? Yeah these products all help. But this can be complicated trying to work in all these pills. And some of us cant afford $400 a month in products.

So how do we cut the cost and lose weight while getting the limited amount of sleep that we get? Well try getting some natural and easy to find supplements such as Apple Cider Vinegar, Ginger Root, Garcinia Cambogia, Cayenne, Bladderwack and Bromelain.

All of these will help speed up your motabolism without getting your heart going like a lab rat and they will work for you while you sleep. Not only will they help with weight loss, but they will help your body in general.

Also Green Tea and Black Coffee can boost your metabolism without adding significant calories to your diet. Its the little things or changes that will help you keep your weight down where you like it.

Quick Weight Loss Tips

Weigh yourself daily, preferably first thing in the morning. You will weigh the least at this time which will encourage you and you will have the motivation to eat correctly if the weight is higher than you expected. By weighing each day you can keep a better handle on what causes you to gain weight and helps you cut back a little that day if you have gained some.

Make sure you're drinking at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces per day of water. If you drink coffee, make sure you drink extra water since coffee is a diuretic that will deplete the water in your body. One last thing to mention about water is to drink it 1/2 hour before a meal since water can dilute your meal and flush out the enzymes.

Toxins come into our bodies from water, air and our food. The fat cells in the body surround the toxins because they attach themselves to our organs. Fat cells are not going to leave the body unless the toxins leave and the only way to get toxins out is to use a program that will eliminate them. Ever wonder why we gain weight in our midsection right where our organs are? Ever wonder why it gets harder and harder to lose weight as we get older? Toxins and fat cells keep collecting more and more and don't leave the body. You'll be amazed how quickly and safely you can lose weight and inches if you use a program that gets rid of the toxins.

Stalled weight loss? You might want to try eating 4 small meals a day for a week instead of 3 to set your metabolism higher. Then when you're back to eating 3 meals focus on filling your plate over 1/2 way with vegetables (raw or cooked or a combination). Make sure you balance it with some protein. If you eat the vegetables first and then fill in with the protein you'll be surprised how full you will be when the meal is over.

You've seen it on the news and on the web, celebrities changing their bodies from fat to muscle in what seems like weeks and months. How can they change so quickly while it takes the rest of us years to get a perfect six pack? The answer to this question is time and money.

To get a perfect body you need two things: good diet and proper exercise. If you're overweight, you need to cut calories and exercise to lose weight. If you want to gain muscle, you need to start a resistance training routine to stimulate your muscles to grow. Celebrities use these same elements but are much more successful at it then any average person can be. The reason why is because they have a lot more money and time to achieve their goals.

Time is an important factor is losing weight or gaining muscle. You need time to exercise and make healthy food. How much extra time do you have in your day for these? You probably have a 9-5 job and unless you want to wake up very early, you'll have to exercise after work when you're tired and just want to go home. Because you're tired you might not get the most out of your time. When are you going to cook a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner? When are you going to prepare some healthy snacks?

Celebrities have all of these problems solved. If they need to slim up for a movie that starts filming in three months, they hire a gourmet chef, personal trainer, and dietitian. They can afford to devote most of those three months to getting into shape. They don't have to wake up too early and they don't have to workout really late after a long day of work. They have a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared for them and when they're ready to go workout, they have a very qualified and exclusive personal trainer telling them exactly what to do. No more guessing how many reps or sets to do. How long would you be able to afford a lifestyle like this?

When you see famous people, you also have to keep in mind that looking like them isn't realistic. They have image consultants, make up artists and many other luxuries the rest of us can't afford. You also have to remember that when they're in the news because of a new movie or album, that's when they're going to be in shape. You don't see them when they're out of work, between movies: that's when they look like the rest of us. So the next time you're wondering why you can't look like Brad Pitt or Eva Longoria, you'll know the answer: time and money.

Weight Loss: Goal-Setting for Success

If you were going to travel to the other side of the world, youd need to plan it. I mean, youre not going to just book a seat on a plane, take off and just take it all as it comes. You need to plan your finances, organize time off from work, get a visa, book accommodation, the list goes on.

Well, the same detail needs to be applied when youre trying to change your life.

The best way to do this is to set goals.

Goal-setting is used by all successful people. It gives them a plan of attack. It keeps them focused on the small things that must be done to achieve big dreams. It tells them precisely what they must do each day in order to succeed.

I bet when youve tried to rid yourself of excess fat in the past youve just said Im going to lose 10kgs..Im going to exercise.and Im not going to eat fat, and that is your plan.

This is why many people fail. They forget the details.

To get the details, you must answer these questions:

Well start with the first statement: Im going to lose 10kg. In what time frame? If you dont have much time then that will affect how much exercise you have to do. It will also affect how strict your diet must be.

Q1. How much body fat do you need to lose?
Q2. What is the time frame? (a realistic level is 0.5-1kg per week)

Next, is the exercise. What type of exercise are you going to do? When are you going to do it? You cant achieve long-term success if you dont plan your exercise.

Q3. What type of exercise are you going to do?
Q4. What days will you do it?
Q5. What time will you do it?
Q6. Who will you do it with?
Q7. Do you need to buy any equipment?

Finally, your eating plan. You need to plan every single meal and snack. I know its takes time but you cant succeed without it. Remember, you not only have to avoid foods high in fat, but also foods high in sugar.

Q8. What will you have for breakfast each morning?
Q9. What will you have for lunch? Do you need to prepare it the night before?
Q10. What will you have for dinner?
Q11. Do you snack? What will you snack on?

Each of these questions need to be answered if you wish to succeed. Sit down right now and do your list. Then you will have your detailed plan for successful fat loss!

By starting a fitness program this is one of the best things you can do for your health. As long as you have approval from your doctor to exercise. Not only can physical exercise reduce the risk of chronic disease (heart etc.,) it can also improve your balance and co-ordination as well. Plus the added benefits also included are that it will help you to lose weight, you may find that you are sleeping better and your self-esteem improves. But what is even better is that you can commence a fitness program just by following the information below.

1. Assessing your Fitness Level

Although you may have some idea of just how fit you are it is important that you both assess and record some baseline fitness scores. These can then be used as a benchmark against which you can measure your progress over the coming months. In order to assess your aerobic and muscular fitness along with flexibility and body composition you should consider recording the following.

a. Your pulse rate before you go for a 1 mile walk and your pulse rate at the end of the walk.
b. Time how long it takes you to walk that 1 mile.
c. Count how many push ups that you are able to do at any one time.
d. Just how far forward can you reach whilst sat on the floor with your legs out in front of you.
e. Measure the circumference of your waist (at navel level).
f. What is your body mass index

2. Design your Fitness Program

It is very easy for many people to say that they will exercise every day. But in order to do this they will need a plan. However, it is important to remember that where one plan may good for one person it is not good for another (we are all different). Therefore when designing and fitness program for yourself you should remember the following points.

a. What are your goals? Do you want to use your fitness program to lose weight or do you have some other reason for starting one. Say for example you are taking part in a 5km race. By setting yourself clear goals you will be able to chart your progress more easily. b. Consider what exercises you like or dislike. Choose those activities which you will enjoy because if you have fun doing the exercises then you are more likely to keep doing them. c. Plan your progression logically. When first starting to exercise then begin cautiously and progress slowly. Also should you suffer from any injury or medical condition consult your doctor first. The reason for this is that they may be able to design a fitness program that will gradually improve not only your range of motion, but your strength and endurance as well.

Hopefully some of the hints and tips provided above will help you to design a fitness program that will help you to achieve your goals in the future.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to build chest that you can be proud of.

Having a broad chest that women will admire when you walk into a room has been the dream of many guys for eons...

Or, for the women... having a toned and sleek chest that accentuates your natural assets in a feminine way has been desired by women for thousands of years...

And you know what? Having a chest that you want is absolutely attainable. I tell my clients this all the time... "Do the work -- do the chest exercise routines... and you will see positive results!"

But be sure to incorporate the expert tips and tricks into your overall exercise plan to avoid shoulder injuries that will set your best laid plans back...

Improper weightlifting techniques and over training always increase your chances of injuring your shoulders or back. So do the routines correctly or if you aren't sure how, talk to your personal trainer...

The workout routines that you are doing today will target your entire upper body. Your chest -- your shoulders -- and your muscles will be exhausted. But the level of exhaustion will be just right -- and you avoid injuries!

We will be doing the basic chest workouts but throw in a few twists to make it more interesting. And since you will be training in the super-chest-workout mode -- you get in and out of the gym in the least time possible.

I included a substitution for women for one Super-set if you are worried about adding too much mass to your chest. And everyone can definitely modify this workout plan to fit their physical goals.

Bodybuilder Workout Routines to Build Your Chest

Chest Super-set 1:

(Rest 1 minute between each exercise and 1.5 minutes before repeating the Super-set)

* A-1: Dumbbell flat chest press -- four sets of six reps

* A-2: Barbell row -- four sets of eight reps

Chest Super-set 2:

(don't rest between exercises and rest 1 minute before repeating the Super-set)

* B-1: Dumbbell incline press -- three sets of 8 reps

* B-2: Dumbbell chest fly -- three sets of ten reps

Chest Super-set 3:

(don't rest between exercises and rest 1 minute before repeating the Super-set)

* C-1: Medium Grip Bench Press -- three sets of ten reps

* C-2: Dumbbell external rotation -- three sets of ten reps

Exercise substitution for women:

Do only two sets of each of the exercises above.

A-1: do the # of maximum push-ups that you can do instead of using Dumbbell flat chest press

Exercise descriptions:

Dumbbell flat chess press:

Lie on the bench. Hold the Dumbbells above your chest with your palms facing your feet. Lower the Dumbbells to the chest level and then press the Dumbbells up above the chest. Easy and steady.

Barbell Row:

Stand up with your torso bent and parallel to the floor. But don't round your lower back. Keep that back straight. Keep knees slightly bent. Contract your abs to support your back. Grab the barbell and row it to your abdomen -- bringing your shoulders blades together. Slowly lower the barbells and then repeat.

Dumbbell Incline Press:

Lie on your back on the forty-five degree bench. Hold the Dumbbells above your chest with your palms facing your feet. Now, lower the Dumbbells to your chest level. And then press the Dumbbells straight up above the chest. Repeat.

Dumbbell Fly:

Stay on the forty-five degree bench but this time hold the Dumbbells above your chest but your palms will be facing each other. The key thing to remember is to keep your elbows slightly bent at all times to avoid overextending them. Now, lower your arms until they are to your sides BUT don't go below the shoulder level! Now use your chest muscles to help your arms push up the Dumbbells to the starting postion. Be in control the whole time -- otherwise you are probably using too much

weight.

Medium Grip Bench Press: Lie down on a flat bench. Feet flat on the floor and upper back against the bench. Grip the bar half-way between your shoulder width and your normal bench press grip. Keep your elbows close to your sides and lower the bar straight down to your chest level. Now, slowly push the bar back straight up above your chest.

Dumbbell External Rotation:

Start with a light Dumbbell (perhaps five pounds). Sit down on the flat bench and bend your left knee. Place your left foot at the end of the bench and rest your left elbow on the top of your left knee. Hold the Dumbbell in the bottom position and slowly rotate the Dumbbell using your muscles in the rotator cuff. Rotate the Dumbbell up and back until it is in the finish position when your forearm is perpendicular to your body at the top of the movement.

This chest workout trick can be done several times a day by anyone to get an instant increase in chest size.

You can do this either when you are sitting down in your chair at the workplace or standing up in line. But you will need some space. The first thing you will do is extend your arms in front of you with your palms facing outwards. Now externally rotate your shoulders and try to use your muscles to touch both should blades together. Squeeze your muscles as hard as you can and hold that position as long as you can. You should feel a lot of tension within your muscles in your back and front.

This is a good isometric exercise to perform to get the kinks out of your body while sitting in your chair for long periods of time at work.

Good job!

If you are looking for an effective workout program no matter if you are a beginner or at an advanced fitness level... that is guaranteed to get you in the best shape of your life... then be sure to head over here to find out how you can transform your body into one that will be slim, toned and muscular here:

4. Green tea is often used solely to help people lose body fat. However, it is particularly effective when used in conjunction with other fat loss regimes. If you are in search of the best and the most effective method for reducing weight as well as maintaining it for life, you should add green tea to your daily diet as well as to your lifestyle.

5. Snack wisely. Not all snacks are created equal; having an apple or cookie mid afternoon might seem like a treat and a source of energy. However, the energy is short lasting and you will likely find yourself starving by the end of the work day.

6. Enjoy your meals and don't wolf it down. It can cause problems such as indigestion, especially in over-weight people because it takes up to 30 minutes for appetite hormones to reach the brain with the message that you're full. By that time, you could have eaten 3 to 4 times too much!

The key to getting it all together is planning - plan in advance to cook and shop for the groceries. That way you will cut out all the take away foods and junk food from your diet. And remember to stay active and exercise consistently to slash more body fat.

These are the keys to reducing fat stomach.

The Ultimate Green Tea Weight Loss Idea

Unless you've been living under a rock, you have been exposed to dozens if not hundreds of diets claiming to be the one that will help you lose weight without much work on your part. And if you do any diet research online, I have no doubt you will be feeling pretty overwhelmed by the level of information that is available, not to mention the sheer volume of products and options you can select from to go about your desired weight loss. One of the most talked about and popular ways to lose weight these days is the use of a green tea extract supplement. Even Oprah has recently extolled the virtues of using tea for weight loss.

Although the tea has been around for thousands of years, there are many people who have not heard about it as a weight loss supplement. Sometimes called the Ultimate Green Tea Weight Loss diet, this article will examine some of the benefits and a few of the side-effects of using a green tea extract supplement for weight loss. The phrase "Ultimate Green Tea Weight Loss Diet" is not a brand of diet or supplements, but is a general, popular term to describe loss of weight using green tea.

Using green tea as part of a weight loss program relies upon daily doses of the tea extract which is known to affect weight loss by boosting your body's metabolism to raise your calorie and fat burning level. Studies have shown that taking green tea raises the average metabolic rate by 4%, which accounts for its weight loss capabilities. (You should be aware that some tea extract supplements contain ephedrine to increase metabolism rates even higher, however, recent studies have suggested that ephedrine can be very dangerous to your health and should be avoided. Some jurisdictions have restricted or even eliminated the sale of products containing ephedrine.)

The tea also has anti-oxidant properties that can be beneficial for human health beyond simply losing weight. For example, its' extracts have been linked to a reduction in the incidences of colon, bladder, esophageal, pancreatic, rectal and stomach cancer by up to 60%. It is said to help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol, help to stop the development of blood clots which may lead to strokes and heart attacks; help reduce high blood pressure, lower blood sugar levels and prevents Type 2 diabetes.

Green tea extract also helps to protect the liver against toxins, promote oral health by destroying the bacteria that forms plaque, destroy free radicals, boost the immune system and help to maintain a healthy fluid balance which helps to relieve stress and fatigue.

While the merits of any weight loss program should be evaluated by the individual based upon his or her own goals, the so-called Ultimate Green Tea Weight Loss diet does seem to prove to be a safe easy and effective option in the battle of the bulge.

The weight loss industry wants to keep you in the dark. They don't want you to be educated or learn any of the so called fat loss secrets. Why? Because if you knew that you could have effective fat loss on your own why would you need their expensive monthly membership programs, specialty meals, and supplements.

I want to help you, I want to show you that you don't need to spend big bucks to lose belly fat and enjoy the figure and target weight you strive for. The follow three fat loss secrets can be implemented by anyone, anytime and they won't cost you a dime.

Secret #1 Your metabolism is everything and you can speed it up

The consensus on metabolism is you either have a fast one or a slow one, and it slows down for everyone as we get older. NOT TRUE. People who discover that by spacing their meals out through the day, eating more smaller meals rather then 3 big meals you can increase the rate of metabolism.

Secret #2 Counting calories not just eating "healthy"

Do you know how many calories you should be eating each day based on your age, weight, and activity levels? How about how many your currently eating on average each day? You need this information, and you need it now. So starting today in a journal write down everything you eat for 7 days and the calories you take in from it. At the end of 7 days get the average.

Next, search for a calorie calculator on the web, and find out what your suggested calorie intake is for each day. You want to modify your daily calorie intake to be below this number, about 250-500 calories is enough to make a difference, anymore then that and you risk not losing weight because your body thinks it might be starving.

By cutting the number of calories you eat each day you will create a calorie deficit that in turn will burn fat to make up the difference. As far as fat loss secrets go, this is what most diets are based on.

Secret #3 Exercising and dieting is the real catalyst

Not all diets stress the importance of exercise but I will. If you implement the tip above of counting your calories, tracking what you take in and then measuring that against what you should be eating exercise will make a profound difference in your fat loss.

Let's assume you cut your daily calorie intake by 500 calories below you suggested limit. You then exercise for 30 minutes that day. You've suddenly created an even bigger calorie deficit of 750 or maybe even 1000 calories depending on how hard you work out was. This will make a big difference at the end of each week when you weight in.

So maybe these fat loss secrets aren't all that "SECRET" shall we say. How ever their smart practical education about fat loss as a whole. I suggest you continue learning about how we gain and lose weight, and how you can lead a healthier lifestyle.

Getting in Shape For Lazy Bastards

Okay so let me get this straight... You dont feel like making exercise a daily habit, you dont like the feeling of being out-of-breath, and youd rather stay the way you are if it means being comfortable...even if you do become an even fatter and lazier bastard in the process?

Ladies and Gentlemen - what youve just read above is the exact mindset that most out-of-shape people have when attempting to get in shape. And when they fail, they actually ask the obvious question of why they have failed... Sad isnt it?

As opposed to those types of people, I have come in contact and trained people who did have the desire to change their daily habits with the goal of getting in shape and being healthier. Now this is the mindset of a few select people who want to get in shape - and its a good mindset to have. But again, Ive also seen people fail to get in shape with this wonderful mindset...

The reasons: Okay, for the lazy mindset - its obvious why they fail. If you go into any activity with the I dont feel like it mood, guess what, you most likely will fail and you wont get anywhere because all of your energy will be focused on not wanting to be there doing whatever is it youre doing. Or for some fat and lazy people, their energy will be focused on which flavored donut theyll purchase when the training is over. Whatever it is you focus on while physically training, if youre focus is not centered on progression and self-improvement - you are doomed to fail.

As for the pre-motivated types, the reason why some of them fail is because they lack consistency after they start training. To give you a more clear vision on what I mean, Ill tell you about a particular client I began to train recently...

A friend of mine heard about my fitness training services one day and decided that he wanted me to help him get in shape. He called me up and we met at a location. He was so worked up and was motivated to get in shape and have more daily energy - and with this mindset, he couldnt possibly fail, could he? Well, for the first few days he used my advice and trained really hard and actually started to make progress. However, one day, a day in which he scheduled physical training for himself, he decided to slack off and take a break. So he did take a break for that one day... And soon, that one day off turned into 5 days off!

Can you believe that? He quit training for one day and resumed back to his old habits...and all the progress he made from improving his stamina to increasing his muscle base all disappeared within a week. He basically threw every little progress he made out the window. And after that, he simply forgot about training.

Of course, being the persistent S.O.B. I am, I pushed him forward after hearing about his fall and he did achieve his fitness goals after about a month of consistent training (powered by me).

But the main lesson to learn here is this: No matter what shape, size, or physical state you are in, if you train consistently, you will succeed at getting in shape and achieving your goals in a reasonable amount of time.

A Clean Diet For Permanent Weight Loss

Getting Started on The Clean Diet

If you want to lose some weight then following a healthy eating plan is a good start, but allowing someone else to dictate exactly what, when and how much you can eat is crazy making. Guidance is good but ultimately you must learn to make better choices in your eating which leads to your gaining the ability to maintain your new shape after the weight has been lost. The Clean Diet is the answer.

What is the Clean Diet?

The Clean Diet means different things to different people. My version is less strict than some because frankly I'm not a competitive body builder and I don't have a modeling contract. Unless you must maintain a specific body weight (as actors sometimes do for instance), you probably are of the same mind as I; that being, I want to lead a basically normal life. Eating out sometimes, enjoying parties sometimes, and generally not feeling like I have to "watch what I eat" or suffer the consequences. The way I eat is sometimes called the non-dieting approach because I don't diet, but I do pay attention. That's what the Clean Diet means: paying attention to what you're eating.

What Can I Eat on The Clean Diet?

Vegetables: Enjoy unlimited raw, steam, baked. Go for it. I don't know anyone who got fat because they ate too many vegetables and that includes carrots, beans, corn and potatoes. Unless you are allergic, there is no reason to shun fresh vegetables. Yes they contain carbohydrates. Get over it. Wean yourself from sauces, and learn to like them without added butter or salt. Vegetables like carrots and beets for instance are very high in natural sugars (that's the point -- nature intended to give you sweet things whereby you'd WANT to eat them and would consequently get adequate Vitamin C among other things).

Fruit: Try to eat at least one or two pieces a day. More is fine. There is no reason to restrict yourself to one-quarter of a cantaloupe or 1 small apple. Who comes up with these rules anyway? An apple contains less than 100 calories. That's not exactly going to break the diet bank, is it? Eat all the fresh fruit you like, especially late at night if you're working on learning to give up your chips or cookies habit. Apples are great for snacking, as are grapes, bananas, kiwi or anything else you like. Try to eat mostly fresh fruit, and saved canned fruits for once in awhile.

Dried fruits such as raisins are a super concentrated food source and should be treated with respect. A few thrown on your morning cereal or in your trail mix is fine, but remember super concentrated food is also high calorie food. You don't need a lot to get the nutrients. Learn the difference between densely packed nutrients and loosely packed nutrients. Fresh fruit is loosely packed, high in water content, and dried fruit is dense with little or no water. Corn-on-the-cob is loose, corn syrup is dense (and processed too).

An ounce of raisins contains 85 calories and 201 mg of Potassium, while an ounce of fresh grapes is a mere 20 calories. You'd need four times the fresh grapes to equal the dried.

Clean foods are as close to their natural state as possible without being fanatical about it. There is a world of difference between a baked potato and a bowlful of potato chips. One is a good source of nutrients and one is a highly refined, richly saturated fat, greasy, salty, modified source of nothing but smears on your napkin. One is satisfying and one leaves you wanting more. Betcha can't eat just one was more than a catch phrase for Lay's Potato Chips. It's a truism.

Grains & Beans: Whole grains like whole wheat, rice, millet, barley, and others. Drop the habit to eat chips and crackers out of a box. Once in awhile is okay, but if you eat them regularly, then you need to make a modification. Cakes, crackers and the like are simply not good for everyday fare, if you want to reach a healthy bodyweight. Once in awhile, or special occasions is fine, just not every day. Not even every other day. Once a week is plenty, and if you can't commit to weaning yourself off those foods, then you need to adjust to living with a higher body weight. It's not a character flaw, but it is a fact you must face. What you eat, dictates how healthy you will be, both mind and body.

Whole grain means whole grain. Bread that lists whole wheat is not 100% whole grain. Watch out. Seeing Whole Wheat on the package means nothing. You want to see either 100% Whole Wheat or 100% Whole Grain. Brown bread is not always whole grain, but it may be brown because some molasses was added to color it brown. Whole grain breads are heavier, more dense, chewier. I think they are better. You might not share that belief, especially if you're used to the light and fluffy white bread. When I was a teenager I could easily eat 10 slices of white bread french toast and still not feel satisfied. How ridiculous is that? I could, on the other hand, eat about three pieces of whole grain bread french toast and that was enough.

Isn't Brown Bread Better for You?

Many people think if it is brown it is healthier, but it is not true. If it is whole grain it is better than refined, but that isn't licence to eat lots of bread. A sandwich now and then is just fine, thank you. The best breads are heavy. Think of being a peasant sitting around a fire cooking a thick soup. What kind of bread would be best to sop it up? Some lame white bread that would disintegrate if liquid touched it, or a thick, hearty brown bread that could serve as a staple if need be? I'll take the second.

My favorite thing to eat is brown rice with stuff. "Stuff" means any vegetable concoction, or sauce, or just something to sort of mix in there. Use a little oil, preferably olive or sesame for flavor. My favorite quick vegetable is steamed sliced carrots and onions. Both onions and carrots are naturally sweet and ultra delicious all by themselves. Once you learn to simply eat foods the way nature presents them, you'll find your appetite stays more in line with better health.

I didn't intend to create a food rule book. My intention is to point out that you need not live on a skimpy portion of grains like 1/2 cup of oatmeal with 1/4 cup skimmed milk and a half a slice of dry toast for breakfast. Eat hearty. I'm an example of how hearty eating will enhance your health, and bring your weight into line, not the opposite. I'll have one or two cups of oatmeal with raisins and a sprinkle of brown sugar (it won't kill you) or if you've grown used to it, no sweetener at all. Use milk if you like, or soy milk.

Lean Meats, Chicken, Fish: Support your local butcher and farmer. When you buy your meat from a local butcher you can be assured you are getting the best available. Okay, it costs more than the grocery store brand. If you want the best, buy the best. Avoid farm bred fish at all costs. Simply ask your meat counter to stock fresh fish.

Desserts, Treats & Snacks: It's okay to eat these things, but practice moderation. If you can't do that, and think you'll eat the whole bag, then don't get them when you're alone. Share some with someone else. Buy the smaller size package. Do whatever it takes, but don't tell yourself you can never eat any certain food again, because that just makes it all the more difficult to handle it when the time comes.

The Clean Diet is More a Way of Life than a Strict Set of Eating Rules

Most people will allow themselves one or more "cheat days" every week. The best plan is simply to choose eating clean as your primary eating style, and when you don't you don't but every meal stands alone. If you over ate at breakfast, you just eat your usual lunch. You don't try to "make up for it" by skimping on lunch. That's an equation that will never work. Just eat normally, and when you occasionally overeat, so be it. That way, rather than always thinking in terms of, "I'll start my diet again next Monday," you just get right back on your plan. While no foods are forbidden on a clean eating plan, common sense rules the day.

See if eating a Clean Diet might work for you. Start by adding more fresh fruit, and a few vegetables. Buy frozen vegetables and add them to your other foods, such as when you eat a frozen meal for instance. If you want chips with your sandwich, take a handful (and a half, if you want) and put it on your plate, rather than bringing the whole bag of chips to the table. Decide in advance how many cookies you'll have. Will four be enough, how about five? It's still better than half a bag. Take it one day at a time, one meal at a time, and you'll find things happening in no time.

Steps to Increase My Metabolism

In the never ending quest to lose weight people try all sorts of different diets, exercise routines and weight loss supplements. What most people dont realize is that if they are asking the question, what are the steps to increase my metabolism? The answer is usually a combination of those three things.

Many others who have tried to lose weight and not succeeded may also ask why is it important to increase my metabolism? If you understand what metabolism is then you come to realize how important it is when it comes to loosing weight. Metabolism is quite simply the rate at which your body burns calories. The more calories burn the more weight you can loose. There is a catch, you have to burn more calories then you consume. Now the amount of calories the human body burns can vary depending on any number of factors including age, weight, hormonal changes, diet, and fitness level.

While there isnt much you can do about your age and hormonal changes as you age is a subject best discussed with a doctor you can take steps to control your weight and increase your metabolism with diet and exercise.

When it comes to diet and your metabolism the first thing to understand is how many calories you are eating. The more calories you eat the more calories you need to burn in order to loose or maintain a certain weight. If you live a completely sedentary life your body only needs around 1500 calories a day to exist. The problem is it is very easy to eat 1500 or more calories in just one meal. In fact a normal candy bar contains anywhere from 250-350 calories. As you lead a more active life style the calories needed to maintain your weight go up, but it is important to remember that any excess calories will be stored as fat.

With diet it is important to eat healthy and nutrient dense foods. Foods that contain high sugar concentrations put great stress on the body and are quickly and easily converted to fat stores. It has been theorized in scientific studies that there are foods that actually require more calories to digest then they themselves contain. These negative calorie foods are mainly from the fruits and vegetables families and it is thought they cause a calorie deficit because of their high fiber content.

Aerobic and resistance exercise is another step to increase metabolism. Exercise places stress on the muscular and cardiovascular systems causing them to adapt and grow stronger. Part of this process involves the burning of calories, not only during the exercise routine but also post-workout. This post-workout metabolism increase happens because the body is recovering from the stress places on it by the workout. What most people dont realize is that lifting weights actually breaks down the muscle being used. After the workout the body rebuilds the muscles to be bigger and stronger and to do this requires energy in the form of calories burned.

So if you are asking yourself what are the steps to increase my metabolism? It is actually quite simple. Eat a healthy diet of nutritious food and start an exercise program that incorporates both aerobic exercise and resistance training.

The Right Way To Do Push-Ups

There is nothing better than building muscle to boost your metabolic rate and in the process getting a muscular physique. The Golden rule is that the more muscle you have, higher would be your metabolic rate because muscle has a higher rate of calorie consumption.Exercise that use body weight are a great way to build muscle and can simultaneously increase endurance, improve cardio respiratory performance and last but not the least burn fat!

Push-ups,squats,pull-ups,lungs are a few of the body weight exercises which effectively help you train your entire body and can be performed anytime and anywhere.Today we shall discuss push-ups and how they can help you tone up your upper body.Push-ups not only recruit the muscle of chest, shoulder, arms and upper back but also recruit muscles of your midsection for balance and stability. Here is how to perform a basic push up:

1 With your feet together, place your palms on the floor with your elbows fully extended.

2 Keep your back, hips and legs in a straight line.

3 Lower your body slowly towards the floor and stop when your elbow joints are in line with your shoulders.

4 Pause for a moment.Begin straightening your arms to return to the start position.

5 Inhale as you lower yourself towards the floor and Exhale as you push yourself up from the floor.

6 Always keep your back straight.Stop doing your push ups when your lower back gets tired.Don't sag in the middle as this could lead to injury.

If the basic push-up is difficult for you then you can perform push-ups with your knees touching the floor and build it up from there. If the basic push up is easy then you can try advanced push ups by keeping legs or hands on a stability ball.Even 10 minutes of the body weight exercises everyday can help you enhance your fitness levels significantly and get you closer to your goal of acquiring a good looking body.Any form of exercise works if you do it regularly.

Caveman Nutrition: How Can We Eat Like This?

John Williams, Ph.D., has degrees in archaeology and anthropology. His research and fieldwork has focused on the Paleolithic and Neolithic of the Old World, which basically means the Stone Age of Europe, Africa and Asia. John has always had an interest in nutrition, which actually works quite well within prehistoric studies, because our past was one big food quest.

CB: Tell us more about your approach to nutrition, and more importantly, developing delicious healthy eating recipes.

JW: You might ask, how in the world did an archaeologist get into creating healthy recipes? Ive never been a stranger to the kitchen. My Mom never really enjoyed cooking, so she encouraged me to cook for myself from a very early age. In fact, in grade school, I would wake up at 6 AM so I could make an omelet for myself before school. OK, so maybe I was a strange kid, but I certainly learned to find my way around a kitchen.

Cooking skills have also come in very handy on excavations, where there are crews of 10-20 people needing nourishment from long days of heavy labor in the sun. We usually have chefs, but Im always poking my nose around the kitchen, giving them recipes to make sure we have sufficient protein and a good fatty-acid profile.

My travels have also taught me a lot about international cuisine. I had an Indian roommate in Israel when I was doing my dissertation research, and he taught me a lot about Indian food, which I think is some of the best in the world. Ive also been to various places around the Middle East and Europe, where I picked up quite a few cooking tips.

Over the past few years, Ive been continually experimenting with making healthy recipes that taste great. Bodybuilders are some of the most knowledgeable people out there when it comes to nutrition, yet many of them will resort to eating tuna from a can and boiling chicken breasts. Not that theres anything wrong with an occasional quick snack, but there are certainly ways to make healthy meals both quick and delicious.

CB: What is your take on eating dairy? Are there any problems with consuming large amounts of dairy products?

JW: My fridge is full of cottage cheese and yogurt. But Im not a big fan of milk, as Ive found that it makes me stuffy, for lack of a better word. If you want to know the gory details, I get some mucus buildup after drinking milk, which leads me to suspect I have a low-grade allergy to it. Its the same feeling Ive had after eating takeout Chinese food loaded with MSG not good. Interestingly, I can eat cottage cheese and yogurt all day without the stuffiness.

Theres also the whole issue of dairy and insulin response. A few studies have shown that dairy products cause a disproportionately large insulin response, which some people believe could prevent fat breakdown.

But of course milk and dairy are an excellent source of casein, which is one of the best sources of protein out there. So in the end, its entirely up to the individual. Personally, I wont be making all that many recipes with milk in them, because of the potential side effects.

CB: What is your take on the low-carbohydrate approach to fat loss? Do you have any low-carbohydrate case studies you would like to share? What are your top sources of carbohydrate that you recommend people eat?

JW: Extremely low carb approaches like Atkins, and even all liquid protein and EFA diets like the Velocity Diet certainly can be effective in losing fat fast. But like I said earlier, a more balanced diet is certainly better in the long run. I think that avoiding foods like spinach or broccoli because of their few carbs would be a travesty.

CB: What are your top sources of protein?

JW: I usually grill about 3 pounds of chicken breasts at a time for quick meals during the day, and cook a proper breakfast and dinner with eggs, lean beef, fish, and the occasional game meat (bison, venison, etc.)

CB: What are your top sources of fat?

JW: Each morning I have a strong cup of Joe and a teaspoon of fish oil to clear the mental cobwebs with a caffeine-DHA combo. Not mixed together of course I wouldnt want to ruin the taste of my Ethiopian Harrar! Then throughout the day, Ill have a couple of omega-3 eggs (Pilgrims Pride EggsPlus), some olive oil in various meals, and various nuts particularly almonds and walnuts. I also take a couple of fish oil caps with every meal. This tends to balance everything out, providing a moderate amount of saturated fat, sufficient monounsaturated, and about a 2:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3s.

CB: Can you tell us the role of food in controlling "inflammation" (i.e. controlling arthritis)? What foods should be avoided? What foods should be consumed?

JW: One of the easiest ways to combat inflammation is by drinking sufficient water. Particularly if you drink coffee or any caffeinated beverage, water is a must. The commonly accepted amount for active people is about a gallon a day.

Another major pro-inflammatory aspect of our diets is a high omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. If our cell membranes are full of omega-6s, then muscle soreness and damage will be much worse after weight training. But get those fats balanced (more omega-3s), and inflammation/soreness can be reduced, leading to reduced recovery time.

Let's Look At Weight Loss After Pregnancy

Becoming a mother is the most beautiful experience for any woman. However this is also accompanied with the negative side of excessive weight gain during the pregnancy period. Losing weight after pregnancy is not possible but yes, it should be done only at a slower pace. It is not wise to diet and thereby deny your baby essential nutrients. You need to aim at eating in a healthy manner and also work at losing weight. You are likely to put on 25-30 pounds during your pregnancy, out of which about 12-14 pounds are lost after delivery. You are still left with a baggage of 12-20 pounds around your body. This feeling of excess mass can make one feel depressed and disappointed.

It is recommended to start losing weight 2-3 months after delivery. You should feel completely ready for the fitness regime with rigorous exercises. It is right to lose only about 1-1.5 pounds per week.

You need to understand that weight loss is not a miracle that will happen overnight. It is likely to take 6 to 12 months to shed off the excess mass. Only hard work, patience and faith will pay off in the right way.

Tips To Follow

Breast Feeding

One of the best ways to lose mass is to breastfeed. Your extra weight that is stored in you is to give you energy for breastfeeding. Breastfeeding takes about 200-400 calories per day. It is good to combine breastfeed with other programs.

Exercise

Exercise in general is good for blood circulation, it gives you an energized feeling, lifts your spirits if you are feeling low etc. It is important to wait for six weeks to start exercising even if you have had a normal delivery. Start from light forms like walking, yoga to moderate intensive forms of exercises. Increase your exercising time gradually as a sudden outburst of energy can tire you out very easily. Start initially by working out at home.

Healthy Diet

There should always be a combination of exercise with dieting. The diet should be wholesome packed with nutrients. This diet will not only aid you with weight loss but also provide your baby with the right food while you breastfeed. Crash diets or starvation can deprive you of the required nutrients and their results though quick and fast will only rebound multifold.

Walking

This is the best form of exercise as it just requires your time and space and is not dependent on any special place or equipment. It is highly practical and you can even take your baby out in the stroller as you go for a walk.

Eat smaller meals frequently throughout the day. This will keep your energy levels up the whole day.

Be Patient

Don't get disappointed if you find other mothers losing weight faster than you. Have patience, take your time and you will definitely achieve your goal.

Losing pregnancy weight is not impossible. It requires a combination of right planning and advice and following the required tips diligently. This way you will not be far from your goal. So go for it!

After loads of weight gained during pregnancy period, new moms just can't weight to get started on losing weight after pregnancy.

An ideal combination is exercise and a healthy diet to achieve your goal of losing pregnancy weight. Avoid surgery or crash diets. They are not good for you or your baby.
